Q&A from A. Gostev regarding Veeam Universal License

Hi All Anton Gostev from Veeam has created a Q&A regarding the new Veeam Universal License – Read it! Q: Is socket-based licensing going away with the introduction of VUL? A: No. Socket-based licensing will remain available for purchase and renewal, and there are no plans to discontinue it in the foreseeable future. Its price will continue to be adjusted periodically to account for the increasing VM density per socket due to host hardware advancements. VMware error: “Failed to write header to…”

Dear VMware User Today a customer called me and showed me following error (Veeam & VMware logs): Error A general system error occurred: Failed to write header to “/var/log/vmware/journal/1487689997.1: Error while writing to file. There is no space left on the device Reservation destination directory   Solution Solution was to move the logs away from the scratch partition (in our case a 4 GB SD card) to a persistent scratch location (i.e. a VMware datastore) More information on the VMware KB site: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2003322

Veeam Backup- & Copy-jobs issues pointing to SoBR

Hi everyone Last week I had some issues with Veeam jobs pointing to a Scale-out Backup Repository (SoBR). Issues Some jobs stopped at 99% (all VMs were processed, but the job did not finish) Some copy-jobs failed with following message: Cannot connect to target backup repository     Some jobs had the error Attribute ‘ServerName’ was not found       Workaround One workaround was, to rename all copyjobs-folder at each SoBR extent and perform a Full copy-job. But this was not the solution for all (other) problems.   Solution After some research I found something in the Veeam Community –...
